Constantino, Jr., 91, and Sophey Marie Constantino, 87, passed away on Tuesday, September 26, 2017 separated only by a few hours at Lorien Health Services in Taneytown, MD.John was born on Thursday, December 17, 1925 in Woodhaven, NY to the late John J. Constantino, Sr. and Antonetta Attanasio Constantino. He was a chemical engineer and served honorably in the U.S. Navy during World War II. He was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church of Littlestown, and the American Water Works Association. John was an avid aficionado of classical music and opera. He loved all animals, especially his cats. He loved family get-togethers and gourmet food at his daughter's farm. In his later years he became a talented cook.Sophey was born on Friday, December 11, 1929 to the late Nicholas and Mary Sokolowska in New York City. Dedicated to her family, Sophey was a caring homemaker and was also a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Before her retirement, she was a secretary to several publishing firms. She was a talented seamstress and a wonderful cook. She loved all animals and especially loved her cats. She loved to travel, and toured the world with John until their health declined.John and Sophey were children of immigrants and both had a profound sense of patriotism and love for their country.In their last years together, John was a loving, devoted caregiver to his beloved Sophey. Together they endured many health issues but buoyed by their deep abiding love for each other they overcame every one till the end. Always so deeply in love, it is fitting that they departed this world together.John and Sophey are survived by their children, Michael S. Constantino of Littlestown and Laura C. Wailes and her husband, TR of Taneytown; and two beloved grandchildren, Lindsay W. DiFabbio and her husband, Nick of Baltimore, and Kelsey Wailes of Taneytown.A private service will be held.
