Joe Ross MilliornABILENE, TXJoe Ross Milliorn, 87, passed away on Wednesday, December 21, 2016 in Abilene, Texas. The son of Linnie (Gwin) and Earl Milliorn, Joe was born on January 30, 1929 in Oplin, Texas, and attended school in Oplin and Eula. He served in the U.S. Army in the
Korean Conflict. On September 27, 1963, he married Louise Burk in Abilene. Joe and Louise owned and operated Milliorn Building Specialty in Abilene from 1974 to 1999. Joe was also involved in farming. He was reared in the Baptist Church and had been a member of Southwest Park Baptist Church since 1977. His hobbies included camping, fishing and volunteer maintenance at the church, as well as serving as "self-appointed chairman" of the fire ant committee at the church. Joe was preceded in death by his daughter, Patty Rowan; parents, Earl and Linnie Milliorn; and sister, Betty Mae Gable. Survivors include his wife, Louise Milliorn of Abilene; three children, Belinda Ancinec, Gary Milliorn and wife Sharla, and Tina Buckner and husband Jason, all of Abilene; two brothers, Tommy Milliorn and wife Ruth Ann of Abilene, and Clarence Milliorn and wife Sue of Eula; sister, Wilma Johnson of Abilene; ten grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; and numerous in-laws, nephews, nieces and other family. Visitation will be 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM Thursday, December 22, 2016 at Southwest Park Baptist Church, 2901 South 20th Street, in Abilene. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 PM Friday, December 23, 2016 at Southwest Park Baptist Church with Rev. Mike Woodard officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Memorial Park under the direction of The Hamil Family Funeral Home, 6449 Buffalo Gap Road, Abilene. Pallbearers will be Kirby Milliorn, John Allen Davidson, Colton Wright, Jim Williams, Shane Williams and Pat Bechtel. The family expresses special thanks to Dr. John Wray, Dr. Nancy Daggubati, Hendrick Center of Rehabilitation and Hendrick Hospice Care.
