Joe J. VelascoOctober 1, 1952 - September 5, 2013Joe J. Velasco, 60, of Pocatello, Idaho, passed away peacefully of natural causes on September 5, 2013 at a local care center. He was born on October 1, 1952 in Pocatello to Celia (Rodriguez) and Jose Velasco. He was the second of six children. Joe attended Bonneville Grade School, Franklin Jr High and Pocatello High School. He entered the military, serving in the Army from 1972 to 1975 in Germany. He enjoyed, his Harley, play softball, fishing and boxing. Joe won the Golden Glove twice. He especially loved being with his grandchildren. He was a member of the Catholic Church. Joe married Debi Petty in 1972. To this union a daughter, Rita Jo was born. This marriage ended in divorce. He later married Tracy Velasco in 1998. Joe was preceded in death by his father, Jose and one sister, Susie. He is survived by his wife, Tracy; daughter, Rita Jo (Ben Turnbeaugh); step daughters, Camie (Chris) Laney and Farrah Harmon; mother, Celia all of Pocatello; two brothers, Arturo of Washington State and Mario of Idaho Falls; two sisters, Margarita (Kelley) Corrington and Vida (Tim) Latimore both of Pocatello; as well as grandchildren, Cortney Marie, Kenadie Dawn, Piper LaRee, Ryder James; and several nieces and nephews.As per Joe's request, he will be cremated under the care and direction of Downard Funeral Home, 241 North Garfield Ave., Pocatello, Idaho. A celebration of Joe's life will be held at OK Ward Park on Quinn Rd from 5:00 P.M. to 7:00 P.M. on Monday, Sept. 9th. The family would appreciated that any one who wishes may make donations in Joe's memory to the Alzhiemers Association
