Olmstead, Joanne E. (Schrader)A heart of gold stopped beating, two willing hands at rest, God broke our hearts to prove to us, He only takes the best….Our loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and dear friend Joanne E. (Schrader) Olmstead, 87, of Windham Center, Pa passed away peacefully on Saturday, January 21, 2017. Joanne was welcomed into heaven by her husband William "Stub" Olmstead, her parents Raymond and Pearl Schrader; her siblings: Patricia, Hilda, Clifford, Lee; her brothers-in-law: Roger and James. She will be greatly missed by her daughter and son-in-law: Marcia and Rick Harris; her son David and his fiancé IdaBelle; her grandchildren: Bill, Ed, Chris, Rich, Dylan, Darcie and Lexie; eleven great grandchildren; brother James Schrader; a brother-in-law Tom Jenkins. Joanne's extended family, Marian who was like a second daughter to her; and Roger and Charlie Olmstead, who were like her sons. Numerous nieces, nephews and their families also survive. Joanne was born on November 19, 1929 in Sayre, Pa a daughter of the late Raymond and Pearl Schrader. She was a graduate from Rome High School and on September 19, 1948 she married William Olmstead and together they made Windham Center their home. Joanne and Stub opened their home and hearts over the years caring for many children. Their home was always filled with love and laughter. Following Stub's passing on February 17, 1998, Joanne enjoyed spending time with her family and especially enjoyed traveling throughout the United States; among her favorite spots was Hawaii for which she traveled to three times. If loved could have saved you Mom, you would have lived forever….until we meet again, may you find peace in heavens hands Mom. Family and friends are invited to attend a period of visitation on Saturday, January 28th from 11 to 12 pm at the Sutfin Funeral Chapel, 273 S. Main St., Nichols.
