Joan Ruth Stevens of Oscoda, formerly of Jackson, passed away on Wednesday, Feb. 29, 2012 at her home, age 74. Joan was born on May 7, 1937 in Jackson to Paul and Nellie (nee Johnson) Jackson. She had many passions in life, however, fishing, bingo, garage sales, crocheting, tubing down the AuSable River, puzzles, playing Texas Hold 'em on the computer and morel mushroom picking were among her favorites. Those who knew and loved Joan will remember how her favorite color was green and how much she truly loved playing with her grandchildren and holding all the new grand babies. She was a lover of the outdoors and all of nature's beauty. Joan enjoyed planting flowers and gardening. She also enjoyed doing many different crafts. Joan is survived by her loving children, Sue Stewart and Jeanette (Paul) Anderson of Oscoda, and Jamie Stewart, Barb Bremiller and Joe (Cindy) Stewart, all of Jackson; 17 grandchildren, 14 1/2 great grandchildren, and many dear friends. Joan was preceded in death by her husband of 30 years, Wallace Stevens; a daughter, Mary Stewart, who passed in Florida; and a granddaughter, Lisa. Good bye dear one. Until we see you again. You left us to go fishing. We are left here behind, but our memories will have to hold us until it's our time. We love you, mom!
