Jo Ann was a Warm-Hearted and Compassionate Sister, Aunt, Cousin and Friend.
Jo Ann peacefully passed away on October 10, 2023 from heart surgery complications. Jo Ann Sines was born to Eugene Pratt Sines and Sarah Louise (Seiler) Sines on August 4, 1951. She grew up in Akron, Ohio the fourth of six sisters. She was predeceased by her parents and her sister Louise Macaulay. She is survived by sisters Mary Ellen Murphy, Marlene Giusti, Rita Semeniuk and Paula (Arthur) French. She was also survived by one niece, Ann (Alex) Conter, and nephews Brian (Marla) Murphy, Tom (Melissa) Macaulay, Matt (Christy) Follis, Tony (Karen) Follis, Andrew (Kali) French, Jonathan French and Gene Semeniuk.
Jo Ann attended St. Mary's Catholic School from grades one through nine, and completed her studies at Garfield High School, graduating in 1969. Jo Ann's first job was at Goodyear Rubber Company. She moved to Southern California in 1975 to join family members and was employed at Prudential Insurance Company. Jo Ann returned to Akron in 2001 to help care for her aging mother. She remained in Akron for most of her remaining years until she became ill and moved to Lebanon, OH to be close to her nephew Brian, wife Marla, and sons Jake and Sam.
Jo Ann was known for her kind heart and her cheerful personality. She continued to give to others by donating her organs so that others could live a life of quality. Her presence will be deeply missed, but her memory will forever remain in the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.
An interment for immediate family members will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery on June 21st, 2024.
A gathering to celebrate Jo Ann’s life will be held on June 22, 2024 at the Residence Inn Akron South/Green for family, friends and acquaintances. Please RSVP to Paula French on Facebook for details of the celebration.

How careless of me to spell her name wrong. If I had been more thoughtful I would have noticed it's Jo Ann. As a fellow double-name I know how often people make similar mistakes. BTW, that picture of her captures her spirit well.

Oh. Joanne! I have such fond memories of you! Mary Ellen, Marlene, Rita and Paula, of you and your mother, too. I'm so sad to hear this. Losing a sister is so painful, but it sounds like you all have lots of special memories of Joanne to keep you company. I'm thinking of you all.
