Tabor, Jerry Judson,Jerry Judson Tabor, 87 went home to his Heavenly Father on Friday, May 5, 2017 at his home in Versailles, KY after a battle with cancer. He was born on July 3, 1929 in Bowling Green, KY. He was preceded in death by his parents Henry Earl and Selma Eve (nee White) Tabor, sister Nathalin Tabor Reames and granddaughter Jessalyn Tabor.Left to cherish his memory are his wife Linda Routt Tabor of Versailles, daughter Alison Tabor Patton-Goedde (Bill), son Scott Tabor (Melissa) both of Louisville, stepdaughters Tamara Carson of Frisco, TX and Heather Hensley of Versailles, grandsons Grant Patton (Ellie) of South Bend, IN, Judson Tabor of Louisville, Courtland Carson of Texas, along with granddaughters Kendall and Cassidy Carson of Texas, great grandson Landon Patton as well as a nephew and two nieces of Atlanta, GA and many, many friends.Jerry was a former member of Beechmont Baptist Church and a current member of Forks of Elkhorn Baptist Church, Midway, KY. He was an Army Veteran, a retired insurance agent for Equitable Life Assurance and an avid sports fan. Jerry made friends wherever he went and never met a stranger. In some realms he was referred to as "the Governor". Jerry was well known for many things including his love of dancing. He wowed the crowds whenever he stepped onto a dance floor. He was also an amazing softball player, pitcher and base hit-poker. His senior softball teams won 4 National Championships, of which he was most proud. He loved to play sports (basketball, softball, tennis, bowling and golf) and he loved to watch basketball, tennis, golf and horse racing (on TV without the sound, of course). Jerry also loved working the information booth at Churchill Downs for the Oaks and Derby.Ole Tabe , as he was known to many, loved to tell stories and was famous for his Brevity cards. In the last weeks Jerry would tell anyone he talked with how blessed he had been in his life and was a faithful servant until the end.Memorial service 1PM Saturday, Nunnelley Funeral Home, 4327 Taylor Blvd. Visitation 5 to 8 PM Friday and after 10 AM Saturday.
