Jerry Elmer Brace of Tawas City, formerly of Howell, passed away peacefully Sunday, Dec. 9, 2012 at his home, age 71 years. Jerry was born on Oct. 12, 1941 in Grand Ledge to Elmer and Madeline (Cudney) Brace. He graduated from Brighton High School in the Class of 1961 After his high school graduation, he enlisted in the United States Navy where he proudly served our country for six years as a ETN3. He married his lovely wife, Annette (Meyers) Brace, on Nov. 20, 1965 in Fowlerville. Jerry worked for 25 years as a repairman for Michigan Bell and AT&T, retiring in 1990. For the past 11 years, Jerry was employed by the Tawas Do It Best hardware store in Tawas City. Those who knew and loved him will always remember how Jerry truly enjoyed fishing and antique tractor restoration and pulling. He was actively involved with the Hudson Mills Old Power Club and the Central Michigan Antique Tractor and Engine Club. Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, Annette Brace; daughter, Joy Charles of Plymouth; son, Jerry (Rachel) Brace of Tawas City; five grandchildren, Cassie, Chaiya, Kaleb, Dakota and Gabrielle; his mother, Madeline (Pat) Brace of Brighton; five sisters, Jean (Larry) Cook of Brighton, Mary (Jim) Garvey of Brighton, Linda Brace of Howell, Arlyne (Bob) Herrman of Grass Lake and Margaret Phipps of Midland; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and many dear friends. Jerry was preceded in death by his grandparents, Elberta and Nora Brace; and his father, Elmer Brace. Per his wishes, cremation has taken place and a celebration of his life and memorial service with military honors will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Buresh Funeral Home in Tawas City with Reverend Paul Graham officiating. His family will welcome friends at the funeral home on Wednesday, Jan. 2, 2013 from noon to 2 p.m. for visitation. Those wishing to make a memorial donation may do so to his family.
