Jennifer Lockwood, 46, passed away peacefully at her home on August 30, 2016, four years after being diagnosed with cancer. Jenni was born on February 14, 1970 in Omaha Nebraska and spent her childhood years in Point Place (Toledo) Ohio. In 1988 she graduated from Central Catholic High School and in 1997 from Central Michigan University with a Recreation degree. After an internship at City of Rocks National Reserve in Idaho, she desired to make a trip to Alaska. In 2000, she loaded up her Ford Escort and zigzagged across the US visiting family and friends along the way. Soon after arriving in Alaska, she met her husband while the two worked together at a fishing lodge on the Kenai River. She was married on June 21, 2002 and after living in several communities throughout Alaska, Juneau ultimately became home.Jenni's life was focused on family activities. She spent six years homeschooling her two daughters. As a member of Chapel by the Lake Church, she loved helping out at church potlucks and activities such as Vacation Bible School. She also had a great passion for music and enjoyed singing in many musical performances throughout the years.One of her favorite pastimes was playing soccer. Most of the time she had her soccer shoes with her and was always on the lookout for a pick-up game. Through soccer, she developed many lifelong friends. When Jenni wasn't playing soccer, she loved exploring by boat or car. She and her family explored areas throughout Southeast Alaska by boat and throughout the country via her favorite vacation method, road trips. She made it to 47 states and was always seeking adventure. Her creative personality enabled her to make any situation fun.Jenni is survived by her husband Greg Lockwood, daughters Gwendolyn and Amelia, mother Marilyn Haines, brother Adam Haines and many more extended family. She was preceded in death by her father John L. Haines.A memorial service and reception is scheduled at Chapel by the Lake Church on Thursday September 8, 2016 at 4:30pm.
