Jeanette M. "Jan" Albertof Shirley, formerly of Fitchburg; 85 SHIRLEY -- Jeanette M. "Jan" Albert, 85, of Shirley passed away surrounded by her family, on Sunday, March 12, 2017, at her home after a battle with pancreatic cancer.She was formerly of Fitchburg, daughter of William and Florina (Allard) Clouthier born on January 3, 1932. After marriage to Norman G. Albert in 1951, she resided in the home built by her husband and his father at 18 Page Street, Shirley.She was married to Norman for 65 years and raised three daughters, Sharon Slarsky of Ayer, Sandra Pereira of Gardner and Janis Albert of Shirley. In addition to her 3 daughters she leaves 7 grandchildren Suzanne Slarsky Dael, Emily Richardella, Leanna Slarsky, Bryan Boucher, Alison Greer, Jeffrey Lambert and Julie Lambert. She also leaves nine great-grandchildren Sofia Richardella and Madelyn Richardella, Jackson Greer and Nicholas Greer, Rebekka Dael and William Dael, Ian LeFevre and Andrew LeFevre and David Lambert.Jan retired from Fort Devens as Executive Secretary to the Post Deputy Commander after 22 years of service. She received many awards including civilian achievement and was nominated for woman of the year of Fort Devens.She served numerous years on the Shirley Health Committee under the leadership of Doris Campbell, Town Nurse; served as secretary and treasurer on the Shirley Council on Aging, and accepted the leadership role in establishing and managing the MART bus program sponsored by the Council on Aging and established, along with the help of Shirley Griffin, a weekly exercise program for senior citizens. She also served as a Notary Public for many years.She became a member of the Seventh-day Adventist Church in Leominster in 1979 and served the following positions: Communications Director for 14 years, Church Clerk, Deaconess, Assistant Sabbath School Superintendent and Church Board Member.ALBERT -- A memorial service to which relatives and friends are invited will be held 10 AM Sunday, March 19, 2017 at the Seventh-Day Adventist Church, 445 Union Street, Leominster, MA.There are no calling hours.A graveside service will be held at a later date at the Shirley Village Cemetery.In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the , PO Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK 73123 or at
