JEAN ZOELZER
SPRINGFIELD — Jean Marie Zoelzer, 84, of Springfield, formerly of Edwardsville and East Alton, passed away on Tuesday, Oct. 11, 2016 at Memorial Medical Center.
She was born on Oct. 27, 1931, in Shipman, Illinois, the daughter of the late Willard Franklin and Clara Florence (Hendricks) Wiegand.
Jean retired from the SIU School of Medicine, was a Past-President of the DeMolay Mothers' Club, and was a member of Historic Grace Lutheran Church in Springfield.
She is survived by her two sons, Alan (wife Janet) Zoelzer of St. Peters, Missouri, and Michael (wife Donna) Zoelzer of Sherman, Illinois; six grandchildren: Jennifer Zoelzer, Steven (wife Theresa) Zoelzer, Daniel (wife Vanessa) Zoelzer, Amanda (husband Chris) Purcell, Mitchell Zoelzer, and Kelly Zoelzer; five great-grandchildren: Austin Cohn, Rylie Cohn, Peyton Kaufmann, Colton Zoelzer, and Camila Zoelzer; a brother Richard (wife Bunny) Wiegand, and a niece Laura Wiegand.
Services are under the direction of Bisch and Son Funeral Home, 505 E. Allen, Springfield, where visitation will be held on Tuesday, Nov. 1, 2016 from 4 to 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, Nov. 2, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Historic Grace Lutheran Church, 714 E. Capitol Ave., Springfield, with Rev. Thomas B. Christell officiating. Graveside services will be held later that day at 1:30 p.m. at Valhalla Memorial Park in Godfrey, Illinois, with Rev. Bill Hendricks officiating.
