Jean Marie Harris DupreeHattiesburgJean Marie Harris Dupree was born on September 19, 1949 in Daphne, AL to Curtis Roosevelt Harris and Lillian Thelma Lett Harris. Jean was baptized as one of Jehovah's Witnesses on August 27, 1966. She met her husband-to-be, Leonard Dupree, at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in Fairhope, AL and married him on August 12, 1972. They were married for 44 years and together they raised three children. She was a gentle giant. As a devoted wife, a special mother, and a caring sister, she was selfless and precious. She was a truly beautiful person, both inside and out. Jean passed away on January 29, 2017 due to unexpected health complications. We look forward to the day when we will welcome her back in perfection. (Job 14:14, 15)She was preceded in death by her father, Curtis Harris; her mother, Lillian Harris; her brother, Willie Harris; and two brothers-in-law, Johnny Young and Thomas Sapp.She is survived by her husband, Leonard Dupree of Hattiesburg, MS; three children, Adrian Dupree (Monica) of Waterbury, CT, Jonathan Dupree of Hattiesburg, MS, and Jessica Dupree of Hattiesburg, MS; one beloved granddaughter, Jailyn Dupree of Waterbury, CT; four honorary children, Ruth Holmes of Hattiesburg, MS, Stanley Portis of Hattiesburg, MS, Mable Portis of Mobile, AL, and Destiny Portis of Mobile, AL; one aunt, Pauline Harris of Malboro, MD; 13 siblings, Elnora Gill of Birmingham, AL, Freddie Mae Young of Daphne, AL, John Harris of Selma, AL, Curtis Harris (Cassandra) of Fairhope, AL, Lizzie Harris of Daphne, AL, Dorothy Dixon (Leo) of Baton Rouge, LA, Anthony Harris of Selma, AL, Henry Harris of Daphne, AL, Betty Blevins (Floyd) of Selma, AL, and Darryl Harris of Daphne, AL; one sister-in-law, Mary Harris; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and other family and friends, both physical and spiritual.
