Fanara, Jean F.Jean Frances (Starkweather) Fanara, 89, formerly of Port Crane, N.Y. passed away on October 9, 2017. Jean was a communicant at Holy Family Roman Catholic Church. Jean was born on September 9, 1928; she graduated from Chenango Forks High School and continued on to receive an Associates Degree from SUNY Binghamton, as a dietician. Jean was married to Charles D. Fanara (deceased September 4, 1999) on June 13, 1948; they were married 51 years. Jean is survived by her Children Deborah J. (Fran) Cianciosi, Bonnie C Bates-Schultz (William - deceased in 2014), Laurie A. (Michael) Boland and Mark C. (Aimee) Fanara. And her "furever" faithful furbaby, Jiggs. Also several grandchildren and great grandchildren. Jean was always the life of the party; if there wasn't a party before she arrived, there soon would be thereafter! Jean and her Husband Charles (Chuck) loved gatherings with friends and family. During the summer of 1976 after their grand adventure to Valley Forge, for the bicentennial, Jean and Chuck threw a luau at their home. Jean loved to plan events and large dinners. The luau menu was planned months ahead of time. Jean loved to research and have everything historically correct. It had all of the senses of Hawaii- south seas music, food, and drink along with the sounds of the ocean. Jean lived by the adage, "Housework is for people who don't read books", and her personal library was proof of this. There were hundreds of volumes referencing the Civil War and General George Patton. With her knowledge of English grammar, history, etiquette and the Golden era of Hollywood, her children and grandchildren will miss their personal Google. Jeans family, particularly wishes to thank the staff at UHS, Ideal Nursing home for their care of Jean. The staff became her second family. During her last days, their kindness and compassion was so appreciated, by her family. A Funeral Mass will by held at Church of the Holy Family, 3600 Phyllis Street, Endicott, NY 13760 on Thursday, October 12, 2017 at 11:00 AM with Rev. Clarence Rumble, officiating.
