DINGLE, Idaho - Jean Christensen Keetch, 91, passed away Oct. 8, 2010, in Kemmerer, Wyo., at Val and Laurie Keetch's home. Jean was born on May 12, 1919, in Shelley, Idaho, to Wilford Moses Christensen and Harriet Birdie Bates Christensen. She was the seventh child of nine children. Jean lived in Shelley for six years before her family moved to a farm in Goshen where she attended grade school. She graduated from Firth High School and received her associate degree in education from Ricks College.Jean married Golden Bridges Keetch on Aug. 10, 1942, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Five sons and two daughters were born to this union. Jean and Golden lived in Wardboro, Idaho, for all their married life.Jean taught first through fourth grades at Wardboro for two years. She returned to Goshen and taught third grade for one year before she married Golden. When Gordon was five years old, she taught another year at Wardboro. While raising her family, Jean took correspondence courses and attended summer school to finish her B.S. degree in Elementary Education from Utah State University. She taught at the A.J. Winters Elementary School for 12 years. Education has always been a very important part of her life.Jean was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She held many church callings in the ward and stake with the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society organizations. Golden and Jean were temple officiators in the Logan LDS Temple for 10 years.Jean is survived by five sons: Gordon (Bettie) of Council, Idaho; Lynn (Rowleen) of Alton, Idaho; Blair (Teresa) of Malta, Idaho; Dan (Debra) of Wardboro; and Val (Laurie) of Wardboro; 30 grandchildren; 63 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Joan Jordin of Little Rock, Ark. She was preceded in death by husband, Golden, and daughters, Sondra Kaye and Janet Leigh Keetch Skinner.Funeral services will be held at noon on Saturday, Oct. 16, 2010, in the Dingle LDS Ward chapel. Friends and family may call at a viewing Friday night from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Matthews Mortuary, 702 Clay Street, Montpelier or from 10 to 11:30 a.m. at the Dingle LDS Ward chapel. Burial will be in the Wardboro Cemetery under the direction of Mathews Mortuary.
