Janice G. NormanAugust 29, 1936 - May 13, 2017VisaliaJanice G Norman, 80, of Visalia, was born on August 29, 1936 in Bakersfield, California. She passed away on Saturday May 13, 2017 in Visalia, California after a long battle with cancer. She was surrounded by her family at the time of her passing. Janice graduated from Bakersfield High School in 1953 and Bakersfield College in 1955. On December 29, 1955 she married the love of her life; Scott Norman and the couple moved to Woodlake where they lived for over 40 years. Their union was blessed by three children, 8 grandchildren, and 5 great-grandchildren. Janice loved her husband and children and was completely devoted to them and their numerous activities. She spent the vast majority of her time serving both her family and community. She was active as a volunteer room mother, PTA, Scout leader, a Lady Lions Club member. and an active member of the WUHS Sports boosters. She loved reading and baseball. She passed along her passion of sports and life to all of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Her impact to her family, community, and friends was immeasurable. We will all miss her so much. Janice was preceded in death by both of her parents George and Belva Scofield and husband Scott Norman in 1993. Life was challenging without Scott; due to their unbelievable relationship. Janice is survived by her sons Scott Norman (Mary Ann) of Anchorage, Alaska and Charlie Norman (Madaline) and daughter Lorie Castro of Visalia; grandchildren: Audra Vargas, Rudolph Vargas, Alyssa Norman, Isiah Castro, Scottie Norman, and Nathaniel, Kirby, and Jacob Norman. Sister Judith Vaught of Morro Bay and Cousin Terri Norman of Bakersfield; great- grandchildren: Blake Marple, and Rudolph, Gabriel, Julian, and Rylee Vargas. She will also be missed by a large number of friends and family. The family would like to thank and acknowledge the staff at Kaweah Delta (3 South and ICU), Dr. Havard, and Dr. Hagopian-Dresser for their compassionate care during Mom's long illness. Services will be held on Thursday May 18, 2017 at 10:00 a.m. at St Mary's Church at 608 N. Church Street in Visalia. Burial will be immediately following at Woodlake Cemetery.
