Janet Saltzman passed away on Wednesday, May 31, 2023. She was born on December 4, 1945, in Cleveland, Ohio. When she was a child, she moved to California’s San Fernando Valley with her parents and four siblings, calling Pacoima and Chatsworth home. After graduating from Canoga Park High School, she met and married Dan Saltzman in 1966. They lived in West Hills for 47 years, where they raised their two children and welcomed four grandchildren, before moving to Las Vegas, Nevada to live out their retirement. They were married for 54 years, before Dan’s passing in 2020. Dan referred to Janet as his “angel.”
Janet loved her family and cared for others as if they were part of her family. She loved sewing and making special things, likehand-made crafts and embroidered quilts, for those she knew and loved. She made recipes that were passed down from generation to generation, including her famous nut roll dessert, and made every effort to continue family traditions. Janet was the glue that held the family together. Friends knew her for her big smile, dimples, and beautiful silver hair.
Janet is survived by her children, Karen Wright and Corey Saltzman, her daughter-in-law Laura Saltzman, and her four grandchildren, Luke Wright, Chloe Wright, Sara Saltzman, and Amanda Saltzman.
The family is planning a Celebration of Life on June 24th at the home of Karen Wright for both Janet and Dan since services could not be held for Dan at the time of his passing. Please contact the family for more information.
