85, beloved mother and sister, died peacefully at Tidewell Hospice in Bradenton on November 19, 2016. Janet was born on December 25, 1930, in Mason City, Iowa, the daughter of Walter and Doris (Pfister) Weiss. She was a graduate of the University of Wisconsin where she met her husband and love of her life, Henry Moran. Janet and Henry lived in Rhode Island, Germany, New York and Massachusetts while Janet raised her four children and taught music. Upon Henry's retirement from hospital administration, the couple moved to the Bradenton area, treasuring their time together until Henry's death in 2004. For the past several years Janet has devoted herself to the Redeemer Lutheran Learning Center, where she served as director, and the Terra Ceia United Methodist Church, where she was the church organist. Janet is survived by her sister, Judy Dobson, her four children, Michael (Rebecca) Moran, Mark (Jane) Moran, Catherine (David) Meltzer and Matthew Moran, as well as six grandchildren and one great grandchild. The family would like to thank the pastor and parishioners of Terra Ceia United Methodist Church for their prayers and support, the staff and her many friends at Water's Edge of Bradenton, and Tidewell Hospice for their exceptional care.There will be no calling hours and funeral services will be private.
