James Robert Long, age 79, went to his heavenly reward on Sunday, May 17, 2015. He died suddenly at his home. Jim accepted Christ as his Savior in January of 1954.He was born on July 19, 1935, in Mineral Point, PA. He graduated from Ferndale High School in 1954. Jim then attended Eastern Pilgrim College graduating in 1959 with a Bachelor of Theology and a Bachelor of Science in Bible degrees.Jim was ordained by the Pilgrim Holiness Church in Allentown, PA, on June 20, 1961. He served churches in Trenton NJ, Mountain Top PA, Belgimtown PA, Bolinger PA, and the Summerville circuit of the United Methodist Church.In addition to pasturing churches, Jim worked for the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, Department of Welfare for 30 years, retiring in December of 1991. He attended the Christian Missionary Alliance Church in Brookville, PA. He married Jacqueline Rose Trimm on January 26, 1957, in the Wynantskill Wesleyan Church.He was preceded in death by a daughter, Darla Renee, on September 9, 1959; his parents Orville and Ruth Long; his brother Wayne Long and brothers-in-law Rev. Harry Orris and Kenneth Shaffer. He is survived by two sons; James Robert Jr., of South Park, PA, and Darryl Jay (Sharon) of Glenshaw, PA; four grandchildren, Tiffany Long, Kristin Long, Jason Long, and Peter Long; two great-grandchildren; four sisters, Lois Orris, Lillian Wallace (Ronald), Mildred Monroe, and Thomasine Houser (Nevin); and one brother, Theodore Long (Katye). Family and friends will be received on Wednesday, May 20, 2015, from 2 – 4 and 6 – 8pm, at McKinney Funeral Home, 345 Main St. Brookville, PA, 15825. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, May 21, 2015, at Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 59 Stone Rd. Brookville, PA, 15825, beginning at 11am. Pastor Brian Smeal to officiate the service. Interment will take place on Friday, May 22, 2015, at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, 1530 Frankstown Rd., Johnstown, PA, 15902, beginning at 10am. Memorial contributions may be made in his name to the Christian Missionary Alliance Church, 59 Stone Rd. Brookville, PA, 15825.
