This obituary is administered by:
James RandolphCarroll: James "Jim" Bennett Randolph, of Carroll, passed away peacefully at the age of 87 on September 1, 2017. Jim was born on January 23, 1930 in Cleveland, Ohio. Jim is survived by his daughter, Susan Porter and her fiancée Denny Schobelock; son, Mark (Suzanne) Randolph; and grandson, Peyton (Kayla) Randolph. He is preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Eleanor Francis "Fran" Dalpiaz. Jim was an only child raised by a single mother, Helen Fullerton Walters, during the depression and he never complained when times were tough. He was a kind hearted man who never met a stranger. Jim attended the Ohio State University and graduated with a degree in mechanical engineering. During his career, he was instrumental in developing the automatic welder for oil pipelines. Jim and Fran lived in Houston, Texas for approximately 10 years. Upon retirement Jim and family moved back to Columbus and remained there until Fran's death in 2014. Jim loved collecting antiques and his historical knowledge of old airplanes led him to write a book entitled "Interesting Aircraft" which he self-published. Jim's last years were spent at Carroll Place Assisted Living, which he loved because of the warm considerate staff and good friends there. During those years he wrote 2 children's books and numerous short stories. With his sharp mind and his great ability as a listener he was truly loved by all and will be sorely missed. A funeral service will be held for Jim on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 3 PM at the Little Country Church, 4990 Tschopp Rd., Lancaster, OH officiated by Dr. Bill Beausay, pastor of the Little Country Church where Jim attended. Friends and family may visit from 2-3 PM the same day at the church. Interment will follow the service at Tschopp Cemetery which is located across the street from the church. Dinner will be served downstairs at the church following interment. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Little Country Church. Arrangements have been made through the JOHNSON- SMITH FUNERAL HOME.
