James Lilly was born on February 17, 1954, in Chicago Lawn, Illinois, to James Lilly Sr and Wilma Lilly. He married his beloved wife Donna J Rudd in 1985, and together they raised 1 child.

James was a devoted father to Henry Lilly, James R Lilly 3rd, Kenya Lilly, Jonathan R Rudd Sr, Tyrone R Moore, and Lawrence T Moore. He was also a loving grandfather to 6 grandchildren.

After graduating from South shore High School in 1975, James continued his studies at Texas A&M, where he graduated in 1978. He went on to have a successful career as a Chicago homicide detective, eventually retiring in 2018. James also proudly served in the Air Force.

Outside of work, James had a passion for coaching football. He loved sharing his knowledge and skills with young athletes and was deeply respected by those he coached.

James Lilly passed away on November 11, 2024, from natural causes. He will be remembered for his dedication to his family, his service to his country, and his commitment to his community. Rest in peace, James. You will be missed.
