A life well lived
James Lee Talcott, 80, of Highlands, New Jersey, passed away peacefully on October 22, 2024. Born in Mexico, Missouri, on December 28, 1943, James grew up in Albany, New York, before moving to Jersey City. In 1976, he settled in Highlands with his then-wife and first son, where he made his home for nearly five decades.
James was a skilled bricklayer and mason, proudly working in his trade for many years. He owned his own business before joining the union, BAC Local No. 4, where he continued to excel in his craft.
He served his country as a member of the United States Army. In his free time, James found joy in fishing, especially for blackfish and fluke, and he often shared this passion with friends and loved ones.
James was known for being friendly, stubborn, helpful, and full of integrity. He was also a ball-buster in the best way, always bringing humor and lightheartedness to those around him. He is survived by his two sons, Jimmy Lee Talcott and Andrew Talcott, his precious grandchildren Drew, Gus, Winnie, and Rex, and his beloved girlfriend, Harriet. He was the cherished brother of Cody, Judy, and Susan. He is also remembered by many nieces, nephews, and friends who will miss his warmth and humor. He was predeceased by his youngest brother, John, and his parents, Samuel and Mary.
James will be remembered for his hard work, kindness, and the love he showed to those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of friendship and fond memories that will endure in the hearts of all who knew him.
