Overholt, James LawrenceAge 59; of Clinton Township; died peace- fully on Friday, March 3, 2017, with his family by his side. Jim was born on June 29, 1957 in Detroit. He graduated from Bishop Borgess High School in 1975. He received Bachelor's degrees from Lawrence Tech in Math and Physics (1979), graduated from Oakland University with both a Master's and Ph.D. in Systems Engineering (1985 and 1999). He worked for the U.S. Army for 28 years, eventually becoming Senior Research Scientist for Robotics. He most recently worked for the U.S. Air Force as Acting Chief Scientist and Senior Scientist for Autonomous Systems. Jim loved to golf, read, solve math problems, and spend time with family and friends. He was a self-proclaimed movie geek, a lifelong Lions & Tigers fan, and was blessed with a beautiful singing voice. He is survived by Kathryn, his wife of 33 years; children Daniel, Amy, Eric, and Grant; mother Geraldine Sluder; brother in law of Gary and Sue Hiltz, Gregory and Donna Wolfe, Michael and Denise Hiltz; also leaving eight nieces and nephews; and many friends. Visitation Sunday 3 to 9 p.m. and Monday 2 to 9 p.m. with a 7 p.m. Prayer Service at wujek-calcaterra & sons Inc, 36900 Schoenherr Rd. at Metro Parkway (16 Mile).
