James Joseph Joynt, age 87, of Saginaw and formerly of National City, Troy and Detroit, died on Friday, July 1, 2016 in Saginaw. Jim was born on June 29, 1929 in Detroit to the late Lester and Marie Joynt (nee Koss). He worked as a customer service supervisor before retiring from Michigan Consolidated Gas Company after 37 years. Jim was a member of the Grant Township Fire Department, an active parishioner at St. James and St. Mary Magdalene and a volunteer and member of the Bishop Foley High School Dad's Club. Jim enjoyed bowling, fishing, hunting, spending time at the cottage up north, woodworking, and collecting coins, guns and knives. He is survived by his wife, Rosemary Joynt (Hansen), whom he married on Sept. 5, 1953 in Manistee; children, Terri and Mike Wozniak of Santa Rosa Beach, Fla., Richard and Ann Joynt of Dearborn, Peggy and Dave Rice of Macomb, Sean and Sue Joynt of Saginaw, Tim and Elizabeth Joynt of Novi, Nancy Jenkins of Williamsport, Ind. and Patrick and Lisa Joynt of Ocala, Fla.; 21 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren. Jim is also survived by sisters, Nancy Joynt of Livonia and Patsy Tata of Northville; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Joynt; sister, Mary Lou Gierc; sister, Louise Garrett; son, Dennis Joynt; and grandson, Michael Joynt. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, July 20 at 10 a.m. (instate at 9:30 a.m.) at St. Isidore Catholic Church, 18201 23 Mile Rd., Macomb, with Rev. Ron Victor officiating. The family will receive friends on Tuesday, July 19 from 4 to 8 p.m. at Wasik Funeral Home, 49150 Schoenherr Rd., Shelby.
