HAMLET — James Howard "Trey" Chance, III, 19, died as the result of an accident on Oct. 30, 2014, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill, surrounded by his family.
He was born on July 29, 1995 in Richmond County, son of James Howard Chance, Jr. and Angela Terry Chance.
Trey was a student at RCC, completing his education and also working with his grandfather doing odd jobs. His goal was to get a job with CSX and work for the railroad. He had a heart of gold and never met a stranger. The evidence showed, as all his many friends gathered at Chapel Hill Hospital, he will be missed.
Visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. on Sunday at Harrington Funeral Home.
The funeral will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Fellowship United Methodist Church, with the Rev. David Lee, the Rev. Don Dawkins and the Rev. Antonio Cureton officiating. Burial will follow at Marks Creek Presbyterian Church Cemetery.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents Mary M. Chance, James H. Chance, Sr., and Deborah R. Martin, great-grandparents Milton and Nealie Terry, Sr., Mary Jane McLean, and Eleanor B. Gibson.
He is survived by his mother Angela Terry Chance of the home, father and stepmother James H. Chance, Jr. and Aimee of Laurinburg, maternal grandparents Milton and Judy Terry of Hamlet, brother Jamie Craig Chance of Laurinburg, sisters Catelyn Chance of Laurel Hill and Miranda Chance of Wingate, girlfriend Kira Madison Stubbs of Hamlet, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins.
