James "Jim" August Hoff of Pilot Grove, Mo., died on Thursday, May 4, 2017,at Ashley Manor Care Center in Boonville, Missouri.He was born on October 15, 1929, to Joseph and Katherine (Strickfaden) Hoff. He married Agnes Cecilia Hanke on September 6, 1954, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Glasgow, Missouri. She preceded him in death on March 24, 2014. He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church of Pilot Grove, Missouri.He is best remembered for living and working on the 180 acre Hoff family farm in Pilot Grove, Missouri, the majority of his life and for taking care of the St. Joseph's Cemetery for many years. He also served his country in the Army and was honorably discharged in 1962 where he was a cook.He is survived by a sister-in-law, Wilma Bonen of Blackwater, Mo.; a sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Hermina "Mimi" and Richard "Dick" Kraus of Sedalia, Mo.; and two nieces and two nephews; Karen Simon and her husband Wayne of La Monte, Mo.; Rick Kraus and his wife Irene of Marshall, MO; Russell Bonen and his wife Bridgett of Armstrong, Mo., and Denise Crawley and her husband David of Ellisville, Mo., one great niece and four great nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Joseph J. Hoff andEugene William Hoff and brother-in-law, Kenny Bonen.Services for Jim will be Wednesday, May 10, 2017, at 10 a.m. at St. Joseph Church. Burial will be in the St. Joseph Cemetery. Rosary will be before the service at 9 a.m. with the visitation to follow until time of service.Memorials are suggested to St. Joseph Church or Ashley Manor Care Center.The family would like to extend thanks and appreciation to Ashley Manorfor the many years of caring and compassion given to Jim.Arrangements are under the direction of Meisenheimer Funeral Home
