Tyler , James A. "Lay" Sr.,71, of Louisville, Kentucky passed away on June 30, 2017. James was born on April 13, 1946 in Louisville, Kentucky to the late Elzie Tyler, Sr. and Georgia Mae Tyler. He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Elzie Tyler, Jr., Richard Tyler, Maurice Tyler; one sister, Edna Tyler; and his daughter, Jamesetta "Lindy" Scott. James had a love for music, he sang and played the drums. He was a member of the Admirals Club, he played in various blues clubs around Louisville for many years. Most importantly, James enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He is survived by his two sons, Dwight Tyler (Marilyn) and James Tyler, Jr. (April); grandchildren, Dakota, Chloe, Mia, Ahman, Lamont and Tiffany; great-grandchildren, Day-Ron, Jordan and Laque; siblings, Joy White (James Watson), Sheila Baltimore (Fred), Edward Tyler and Marion Wilson and a host of nieces and nephews. Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Newcomer Funeral Home, East Louisville Chapel (235 Juneau Drive, Louisville, KY 40243), with a Celebration of James's life to follow at 4 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
