Papez, James A. MADISON-James A. Papez, age 92, of Madison, passed away on Sunday, June 4, 2017, with his loving family by his side. He was born on Aug. 31, 1924, in Milwaukee, the son of Albert and Julia (Kriz) Papez. Jim graduated from Washington High School in Milwaukee, later attended Northland College and graduated from UW Stout. During WW II he served in the U.S. Army Air Corps. Jim married Elaine Schad on June 20, 1953. He taught industrial arts and science for Milwaukee Public Schools, retiring in June 1976. Jim was an avid fisherman. He enjoyed camping, biking, spending time with his family and world adventures. He lived a full life. Jim is survived by his wife of 63 years, Elaine; son, David (Carrie) Papez; daughter, Vicki (Ted) Slavik; grandchildren, Jesse (Kristi) Papez, Michael (Leah) Papez, Katrina Slavik, and Kailey Slavik; great-grandchild, Keaton Papez; brother-in-law, Russell (Mary) Schad; and many nieces, nephews, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; and sister, Betty Schwartzburg. A Celebration gathering will be held at OLBRICH BOTANICAL GARDENS, 3330 Atwood Ave, Madison, from 9 a.m. until 11 a.m. on Saturday, June 10, 2017, with military rites and a Celebration of Life at 10.am.
