James A. "Jim" McGuire, Jr., age 84 of Malvern, died Sunday morning, November 13, 2016. He was born on September 6, 1932 in Carthage, Arkansas to the late James A. McGuire and Mary Higgs McGuire. Reared and educated in Carthage and Fordyce, he had been a Malvern resident since the early 1950's. He was a veteran of the United States
Army. Jim was a retired postal worker, and had served as an officer of the Arkansas Rural Letter Carriers Association. He was a member of N. A. R. F. E., and was active in the State and County Democratic Committees. Jim was a member of First United Methodist Church, Malvern.He is survived by his wife, Betty Jones McGuire, to whom he was married on March 26, 1971; his daughters, Vicky Hohrine (David) of Malvern, and Mary Todd (Terry) of Marion, Arkansas; a sister, Mary Louise Matthews of Massena, New York; a brother, Jack McGuire of Benton; three grandchildren, Katy Perkins (Jesse), Heather Grigsby (John), and Andrew Todd; and four great-grandchildren, Adelyn, Brooklyn, and Lane Grigsby, and Gaius Perkins. Visitation will be on Tuesday evening, November 15, 2016, from six until eight o'clock at J. A. Funk Funeral Home. Funeral services will be at two o'clock on Wednesday afternoon, November 16, in the sanctuary of First United Methodist Church, Malvern, with Reverends LaVon Post and Jesse Perkins officiating. Interment will follow in Shadowlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers are: John Green, Kevin Jones, Bob Pearson, Matt Green, Lew Waniewski, and Marvin Blair.
