Jakob BaumannMANSFIELD: Jakob Baumann, 93, peacefully passed away on Tuesday, March 14, 2017, at Lexington Court Care Center, Lexington, OH, following a short illness.He was born on June 16, 1923 in Mamarak, Yugoslavia, to Johann and Teresa (Harich) Baumann. Jakob grew up, received his education and served a three year woodworking apprenticeship in Yugoslavia. Subsequently, he went to Germany, served in the German Army in WWII, and following the war lived in Austria, from where he immigrated to the United States in 1956.He was a highly skilled tool and die maker for General Motors in Mansfield where he worked for 30 years. He was a member of Apostolic Christian Church. A gifted woodworker, who enjoyed crafting grandfather clocks and many other beautiful wooden works for family and friends. He was an avid outdoorsman, with a love for gardening, farming, and hunting. Jakob Baumann is survived by Juliana (Welker), his wife of 58 years; his children, Dr. Ronald Baumann and his wife Marie, of Bellville, Linda Baumann of Mansfield, and Dr. Marlene Baumann of Mansfield/Lewisburg, PA. He has two grandchildren, Emily and Hannah Baumann, of Bellville. Also surviving are two sisters, Juliana Trefz and Liesl Pfaff of Germany, and nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers and two sisters.The family will receive friends from 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, March 18, 2017 at the Apostolic Christian Church, 1841 Middle-Bellville Road, Mansfield, followed by the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Burial will follow in Mansfield Memorial Park.
