Jacqueline Lucille Payne, 90, of Dodge Center, passed away on Feb. 1, 2017, at the Owatonna Hospital in Owatonna. Jacqueline was born on Aug. 1, 1926, the daughter of Harry and Doris (King) Wells in Battle Creek, Mich. She attended elementary and secondary school in Battle Creek, Mich. She attended Argenbright Business College at Battle Creek from 1945-1948 and attended Salem College in West Virginia. Jacqueline served as a missionary in Jamaica from 1954 to 1958. She was united in marriage to Donald Payne, Jan. 7, 1988, in Riverside, Calif. Jacqueline was a member of the Seventh Day Baptist Churches in Michigan, California, and Minnesota, and a member of the American Business Women Association in Michigan and California. Jacqueline did office work for the University of California at Riverside for 25 years. She enjoyed traveling, reading, knitting, and Bible study. Jacqueline is survived by her stepchildren, Dave (Jan) Payne, Charles City, Iowa, Miriam (Bill) Shook, Fort Meyers, Fla., Conrad (Mary) Larson, Fargo, N.D., Doug (Karen) Payne, Claremont, Elise (Alan) Walker, Amery, Wis., Madelyn (Richard) Neher, Dodge Center, Roger Payne, Dodge Center, Janelle (Glenn) Weaver, Norfolk, Va.; 25 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild. She was preceded in death by her husband; one daughter; three grandsons; parents; stepmother, Lenna Morgan Wells; and stepfather, Henry Coney. The memorial service will be 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 7, at Seventh Day Baptist Church, 203 E. Main St. in Dodge Center, with the Rev. William Shobe officiating. Visitation will be one hour before the service at the church. Czaplewski Family Funeral Home in Dodge Center is in charge of arrangements.
