JORGENSON, Jacqueline(nee Whisker)Our wonderful Mother, Jacqueline Jorgenson, passed away unexpectedly on January 29, 2017, at the age of 88. Jacqueline was born on August 3, 1928 to Richard and Phyllis Whisker and was their first little blessing. She was raised in Ladysmith, B.C., along with her younger sister, Sheila. Jacqueline married Magnus Jorgenson on May 26, 1951 and they raised four children. The family lived in many beautiful homes around B.C., finally retiring in Nanaimo. She loved to host and entertain, especially at the family cabin at Mt. Baker in Washington. She always had an open heart and an open house. Jacqueline and Magnus loved to travel, enjoying many trips to Mexico and Hawaii, as well as several cruises. They went on a beautiful trip to Europe, including England, Scotland, Finland and Norway, visiting many relatives along the way. She enjoyed sewing, reading, shopping and most of all keeping in touch with friends and family on the phone. She was also a wonderful knitter and continued to knit into her early Eighties. Numerous babies around the world wore her beautiful hand-knit outfits. She was a proud member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Jacqueline was predeceased by her parents, and her husband Magnus in 2013. She is survived by: her sister Sheila Drummond (Bill); her four children Jana (Brian), Dale, Jill and Dean; four grandchildren Aaron (Tyra), Amber (Travers), Sheena (Dustin) and Dawson; and two beautiful great-grandchildren Dante and Magnus, who is the namesake of his late Great-Papa. Her endless string of family and life-long friends were her passion and delight. The family wishes to thank all the wonderful staff at Malaspina Gardens Care Home who attended to our mother in the last six months of her life. We would also like to recognize family friend Cathy for catering to our mother for the last few years so she could live in her apartment overlooking the Nanaimo Harbour. A Celebration of Life will take place on March 4, 2017 from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. at the Coast Bastion Hotel – Malaspina Room, 11 Bastion St., Nanaimo, B.C. No flowers by request. Donations may be made on her behalf to Diabetes Canada.
