Irene Bobbitt, beloved mother, grandmother, and friend, passed away peacefully on June 13th, 2023 at the age of 88. Born on May 17th, 1935 in Roanoke Rapids, North Carolina to Howard Lee and Mary Ann, Irene lived a full and meaningful life surrounded by loved ones.She attended Roanoke Rapids High School and graduated in 1958, where she excelled in her studies and formed lifelong friendships with her classmates. Irene was a bright and spirited individual, always ready with a joke and a smile to brighten someone's day.Irene was a devoted mother to five children: Nicki Bobbitt, Katrina Hawkins (spouse of Tommy Hawkins), Desmond Jones, Marion Jones (spouse of Alexis Wright), and Alvin Mills Jr. She was a caring and supportive parent, always there to offer guidance and love no matter the circumstances.As a grandmother of nine, Irene delighted in spending time with her grandchildren and spoiling them with gifts and treats. She cherished family gatherings and always made sure there was plenty of food and laughter to go around.Irene will be remembered for her kindness, her sense of humor, and her unwavering devotion to her family. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.The cause of her passing was old age, but her legacy will endure through the memories and stories of those whose lives she touched.
