HERSCHEL H. MCWILLIAMS, JR. Herschel H. McWilliams, Jr., 84, lifelong KCK resident, passed away at Providence Medical Center on Wednesday, October 26, 2016. Herschel was born on Dec. 15, 1931, to parents, Herschel H. Sr. and Julia (Nellie) McWilliams. Prior to marrying the love of his life, Louise, Herschel was brought up in the Armourdale area, graduating from Bishop Ward High School, Class of 1949. Herschel had many achievements throughout his life. Those achievements include being Co-Captain of Bishop Ward's Varsity Basketball team, a Semi-Pro Baseball Player on the Fiddlers, member of the Procter & Gamble's Fast Pitch Softball Team, not to mention his greatest passion, being an avid golfer. Golfing, Herschel won the Club Championship two times at Dub's Dread Golf Course (1979 & 80). Herschel made a total of four holes-in- one; two of his holes-in-one occurred five days apart on two separate golf courses in SW Missouri. Herschel was also in the Army Reserves where he served eight years. He was also an outstanding individual with a style and personality that was second to no other. Dad was a great husband, grandpa, sportsman, athlete, son, craftsman, dedicated employee and father. Herschel worked for 40 years for the Procter & Gamble Co. Herschel was a volunteer at Sunflower Hills Golf Course for nearly 25 years. He was a constant in the Seniors Men's Golf League. Herschel McWilliams Jr. has a large family and thousands of good friends. If you met Herschel you liked him and you became his friend in a moment. Amongst his closest friends he was a founder of "The Good Times Gang!" Herschel was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Rose Marie McWilliams; his wife of 63 years, E. Louise (Johnson) McWilliams. Survived by sister, Patricia Hamilton; brother, Dennis McWilliams (Joni); daughter, Kathy Louise Harris (John); son, Charles H. McWilliams Sr. (Dixie); and son, Herschel H. "Sonny" McWilliams III. Herschel has 12 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren; two great-great grandchildren and the family continues to grow. Visitation will be from 2 until 5 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 30, and the Celebration of Herschel's Life will begin at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 31. Both of these will be held at Maple Hill Funeral Home.
