Henry CroneBRIMFIELD - Henry L. Crone, 75, of Brimfield passed away at 4 a.m. on Friday, October 28, 2016, at UnityPoint Health-Proctor in Peoria, IL. Henry was born on May 5, 1941, in Kewanee to William D. and Anne Bailey Crone. He married Joyce Jackson on August 17, 1962, in Castleton, IL, and she survives. Also surviving are three children, Michael Lincoln (Connie) Crone of Rock Island, IL, Kimberly Ann (Robert) Smeelie of Suwanee, GA, and Debra Joy Schendel of Elmhurst, IL; six grandchildren, Carrie Spurgetis, Matthew Lincoln Crone, Andrea N. and Ryan S. Smeelie and Reid A. and Jillian J. Schendel; one brother, Thomas (Sherry) Crone of Bradenton, FL; and two sisters, Adaline Crone of St. Petersburg, FL, and JoAnn (Chuck) Marshall of Arvada, CO. Henry was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, William D. Crone Jr. and James B. Crone.Henry graduated from the University of Illinois with a Bachelor's of Science. He was a member of Theta Delta Chi and loved the Fighting Illini. He managed the family farms in Stark County and also worked at Ford Motor Co. as a General Field Sales Manager for 16 years, before working at Ponderosa as a manager for 20 years, and finally retiring from Val-Pack in 2003. Henry was a member of Salem Lutheran Church and he volunteered for many maintenance and up-keep jobs to help and show his love for the church. He was also a chairman of the building committee for the All Saints Lutheran Church in Davenport, IA. Henry loved gardening, fishing and riding ATVs and he loved his grandchildren dearly.A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, November 1, 2016, at the Salem Lutheran Church in Peoria, IL. Visitation will be held on Monday, October 31, 2016, from 5 to 7 p.m. at Haskell-Hott Funeral Homes in Wyoming, IL. Additional visitation will be held before the service from 10 to 11 a.m. at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Salem Lutheran Church in Peoria, IL, or St. Timothy Lutheran Church in Wyoming, IL.
