Heber "Kay" PrisbreySt. GeorgeDevoted husband, father, and grandfather Heber "Kay" Prisbrey, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family at 90 years old on Wednesday December 14, 2016. He was born on July 1, 1926, in Cedar City, Utah to Heber M. Prisbrey and Hatti Dover Prisbrey. He married Belva Jane Bentley on June 10, 1949 in Cedar City, Utah and had two daughters, Sharon Kay and Karen Jane. Belva died of cancer in 1969. On January 9, 1971 he married Dixie Norine Anderson in St. George, Utah and became a father to her daughter Sheila. Kay and Dixie had three more daughters Carla, Donna, and Trudi Janet for a family of six girls.Kay's passions were his family, life-long friends, new cars, carpentry tools, and chocolate. He was a drove a route for Cedar Laundry & Cleaners for nearly 25 years in Southern Utah. He loved driving and proudly maintained a commercial driver's license throughout his career. For 15 years, he was a master craftsman and private contractor in Cedar City, where he was well known for his custom-built homes and personal integrity. In his later years, the family moved to Fredonia, Arizona where he provided exemplary service for 20 years maintaining the school facilities and driving a bus route. In 2006 he and his wife Dixie retired in St. George, Utah to be nearer to their children.He is survived by his wife, Dixie; his children and their spouses, Sharon Kay Larsen (Steven), Karen Jane Smith (Michael Crisp), Sheila Anderson Fife (Chris), Carla Nay (Curtis), Donna Ray (Kyler) and Trudi Janet Day (Michael); 12 grandchildren (Brady Heather, Erica, Shannon, Thomas, Aaron, Joe, Amanda, Libby, Kaden, Kayla, and Gabriel), 9 great-grandchildren (Parker, Taylor, Kayzlee, Kelsea, Hagen, Addison, Sawyer, Laken and Logan); and his brother Jay (Georgia) Prisbrey.He is preceded in death by his first wife Belva, his parents, his brothers Paul (Vera), Rodney and DeLoy (Sharon); and his sisters Dorothy Clark (Albert), and Antionett Houston.A visitation will be held from 11:30 am to 12:00 pm on Monday, December 19, 2016 at Southern Utah Mortuary (190 North 300 West, Cedar City, UT) . A Memorial Service will follow at 12:00 pm at the Mortuary. Interment will take place in the Cedar City Cemetery under the direction of Southern Utah Mortuary.
