HARTFORD CITY — Harry D. 'Brownie' Brown, 86, of Hartford City died Tuesday, April 21, 2015, at Lutheran Life Village in Kendallville. Mr. Brown retired in 1989 from the Shell Oil Co., where he was a driver for 30 years. Harry was a 1946 graduate of Jefferson High School in Huntington County. Mr. Brown was a sergeant in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, serving from 1952 to 1954. He was a lifetime member of the Milliard-Brown American Legion Post 156 in Montpelier. He was born on Sept. 8, 1928, in Huntington County to Howard and Celia (Roberts) Brown. He married Lois Mae Wamsley on April 19, 1952 in Lancaster. She survives in Hartford City. Also surviving are two daughters, Kathy Brown-Berry of Hopewell, New Jersey, and Connie (Jim) Williams-Amos of Hudson; four grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant brother and and adult brother, C. Richard Brown. Visitation will be from 2-6 p.m. Saturday and from 1-3 p.m. Sunday at Glancy-H. Brown & Son Funeral Home, 203 N. Matilda St., Warren. A celebration of life service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Pastor Jeff Wolheter officiating.
