1936 - 2017 Harold Raymond "Ray" Johnston, Jr., 80, of Sour Lake, died Monday, February 6, 2017. He was born on September 30, 1936, to Marie Grant Johnston and Harold Raymond Johnston, Sr., in Beaumont. He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Janita Dell Johnston; and brother, Eugene Johnston. Ray was a 1955 graduate of French High School and graduated from Lamar University with a Bachelor of Science in Engineering in 1964 and became a Professional Engineer with the State of Texas in 1977. He was owner of Galewsky-Johnston Consulting Engineers in Beaumont. Ray was an Elder at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church and served as Deacon and Elder at Westminster Presbyterian Church. He was an Eagle Scout and served as Scout Master for Troop 251 in Pinewood. Survivors include his wife of sixty years, Gwen Johnston; sons, Hal Johnston and his wife, Alice, of Sour Lake; Mark Johnston and his wife, Patsy, of China; and David Johnston of Beaumont; grandchildren, Will Johnston, Chris Johnston, Jennifer and Tracy Davis, Ryan and Sasha Johnston, Laura Segler, Danika Johnston, Nathan Johnston, and Annalyse Johnston; and great-grandchildren, Morgan, Carley, Collin, and Grayson Davis, Rylei, Preslei and Lyndlei Johnston, and Chase Segler. A gathering of Mr. Johnston's family and friends will begin at 1:00 p.m. with his funeral service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, February 8, 2017, at St. Andrew's Presbyterian Church, 1350 North 23rd Street, Beaumont. His interment will follow at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Beaumont, under the direction of Broussard's, 1605 North Major Drive, Beaumont.
