Harold Cameron DavisAsheville - Harold Cameron (Hal) Davis, 81, of Asheville, NC, passed away peacefully on April 9, 2017. Mr. Davis is survived by his wife, Patricia, daughters, Jacqueline Gulino and her husband, Dan, of Mendham, NJ, and Laurie Conley and her husband, Brian, of Columbia, MD. He also leaves behind seven grandchildren and one great-grandson.Mr. Davis was born on July 25, 1935, in Saskatchewan, Canada. He graduated from the University of Saskatchewan with a Bachelor of Arts in Honors Physics, through the Canadian Royal Officers Training Program.After graduation, he was transferred to a Royal Canadian Air Force radar base in New Brunswick, Canada, followed by a one-year course in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He was then given an exchange transfer to the US Air Force Space Systems Division in Los Angeles, followed by a USAF exchange position at the Pentagon.After the three-year obligation required by the Royal Officers Training Program, he was honorably released from the Canadian Armed Forces. He was granted permanent resident status and then US Citizenship. He was employed by Collins Radio and Rockwell International, traveling extensively in the Middle East, Europe, Asia, and South America. Hal worked and lived with his family in Irvine,CA; Falls Church, VA; Dallas, TX; Cedar Rapids, IA; Toronto, Canada; and Rochester, NY. His last employment was with CES Wireless Technology, working with Fidelity Investments in Boston. Following retirement, Hal and Pat moved to Asheville, NC.In Asheville, Hal was a member of a committee formed to raise money to build the Center for Creative Retirement, subsequently named the Reuter Center, a division of OLLI. He was an active member, taking classes and teaching a class on Canada. He sang with the Reuter Center Singers. Hal and Pat travelled extensively in Canada and Europe, and spent three summers house sitting in the south of France. Hal was buried at the Carolina Memorial Sanctuary in a private family service. A celebration of Hal's life will be held in Asheville at a date, time, and location to be announced in the future.
