Guy Benjamin HildenbrandHolt, MichiganGuy passed away Monday, June 12, 2017. Guy was born on August 26th, 1960 into an Army family at Fort Benjamin Harrison in Indianapolis, Indiana to Vernon and Jacqueline (Lalin) Hildenbrand. During his childhood, he traveled the world with his family and experienced many cultures. These experiences forged in him a great acceptance and respect for the cultures and traditions of other people. Guy graduated from Heidelberg American High School in Germany. In 1993, he married the love of his life — Kelli (Overton) Hildenbrand. His father, Vernon, and Guy founded Great Lakes Express Service in 1981, and Guy successfully ran the company for 36 years. Guy had a zest for life and a sense of adventure. Always a great athlete, he enjoyed working out, skiing, tennis, soccer, and being outdoors whether working in the yard or walking along the beach with his beloved wife. He especially enjoyed time spent with his sons in the woods of Michigan and on the shooting range, and at the family condominium in Ludington. He was an avid MSU fan. He also enjoyed travel, photography, motorcycling, and music. The things he loved most in life were his Lord, America, and his family and friends. His love of God and faith in God's promises were part of a daily, living faith to him. Although he never wore the uniform of the American Armed forces, he was a true patriot and a fervent supporter of our Marines, soldiers, sailors, and airmen. His family and friends were everything to him and he dedicated his life to loving and supporting Kelli and his sons Marc and Matthew. He had a deep love for the American side of his family through his father and an equally deep love for the French side of his family through his mother Jacqueline. He was a man who led by example in every area of his life. He gave freely of himself to mentor, train and coach young people. He was a kind and loving neighbor. This past Monday, Guy's mother and father welcomed him home to eternal life through his Lord and Savior Jesus. Survivors include his beloved wife Kelli Hildenbrand of Holt, Michigan and his sons Marc Hildenbrand of Holt, Michigan, and Private First Class Matthew Hildenbrand, USMC stationed at Camp Pendleton, California; brothers Marc Hildenbrand of Decatur, Texas and Yanik Hildenbrand, of Bellingham, Washington. We extend our heartfelt thanks and appreciation for the outpouring of love and support we have received from our family and friends during this difficult and unexpected time in our lives. A memorial service in honor of Guy's life will be held at 2 pm on Saturday, June 17, 2017 at Colonial Village Baptist Church, 2010 Boston Blvd, Lansing, MI.
