Gloria Susan Taaffe, age 59, passed away on February 1, 2019. She was born on July 3, 1959 in Pratt, KS to Maria A. Espinosa and Carl F. Weese Sr.

Gloria grew up in Greensburg, KS where she made many friends that she stayed in contact with throughout the years. In 1982, she graduated from Stormont Vail School of Nursing in Topeka, KS, and shortly after starting her long nursing career, she married Steven J. Taaffe. They had one son, John-Michael W. Taaffe, in November 1984, and in 1989, the family moved to Wichita, KS. The family finally relocated to Leander, TX in 2007.

She held various positions in her 30+ year nursing career with the majority spent as a cancer nurse. She touched many families lives over the years and gave compassionate personal care to all of her patients. She was honored to carry on the family tradition, as her mother was also a nurse.

She had a strong relationship with God and was active in her church, attending Sunday mass and singing in the choir. She was an avid dog lover with a special place in her heart for her miniature schnauzers. And even though she lived in Texas, she was still a Kansas girl with a deep passion for her Kansas Jayhawks basketball—something she shared with her son John.

She is survived by her son, John-Michael W. Taaffe, and wife Shelley A. Kilpatrick of Austin, TX; her brother Carl Weese, Jr. and wife Cheryl Weese of Pratt, KS; and ex husband Steven J. Taaffe of Leander, TX.  She also leaves behind one niece, Melanee Weese; and three nephews, Tom, Todd, and Tyler Weese; and a host of caring friends.

A memorial mass will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, February 22, 2019 at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Cedar Park, TX. Anyone who would like to pay their respects and celebrate her life is welcome to attend. If anyone would like to send flowers, please arrange to have them sent to the church the morning of the ceremony.
