Pierce, Glenn J. "Hawk"Glenn Pierce, age 82, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday October 24, 2017. He was born on January 11, 1935 in Sheboygan to the late Lyle and Estelle Miller Pierce Kolar (Matthew). Glenn attended schools in Sheboygan and enlisted in the
Army, serving in the
Korean Conflict and also spent time in Japan. Glenn was honored and proud to participate in the Stars and Stripes honor flight in 2013.Upon his return to civilian life he began work at the Manitowoc Equipment Works, Armour Leather, was an owner operator and drove coast to coast and retired from work with his final years spent with Gabe's Construction Company Inc. Glenn and Mary (Fanslau) were united in marriage in 1956 and had 61 years together.Glenn was very active in the starting of snowmobiling in the Sheboygan area and in his later years his passion was for sailing.Glenn is survived by his wife, Mary; daughter, Therese (Teri) DeVriend (Kevin); son, Lyle (Linda); grandchildren, Amy Lyn Schroeder, Jennifer, Jessica, Zachary and Joshua Pierce, Nicholas (Meghan), Tucker (Rebecca) DeVriend; brothers, Jerald (Dorothy), Jim (Eva), David (Barbara) Kolar; sisters, LouAnn (Robert) Udovich, Pamela (Darrold) Schmitting and Victoria Cone; sisters-in-law, Barbara (Robert) Fox, Karen (Tom) Seering and Linda Fisher. He was preceded in death by his in laws, Herold and Valeria Fanslau; son, Robert Pierce and various brothers, brothers-in-law, a sister and sisters-in-law.Visitation will be held on Friday, October 27, 2017 at Reinbold-Novak Funeral Home, 1535 S. 12th St., Sheboygan, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of memorial service at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to Sharon S. Richardson Community hospice in Glenn's name.The family would like to thank Dr. Jeffrey Welsch for his compassion and care over the years and to the staff at Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice.
