Glenn E. BahretPoughkeepsie - Glenn E. Bahret, 83, of Poughkeepsie, NY, passed away on Tuesday, July 18, 2017 at Vassar Brothers Medical Center. Glenn was born on April 18, 1934 in Poughkeepsie, NY and was the son of the late Edward P. and Florence Bockee Bahret. He was a 1952 graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. He participated in the Soap Box Derby, coming in 2nd place in 1946 and 1947 and stock cars where he drove at the Arlington Speedway from 1953 - 1957 driving Car #5. He then went to work as an electrician and auto mechanic for John VanBenschoten. Glenn was self employed as a Mechanical Contractor, specializing in industrial refrigeration and air conditioning and started Qualified Maintenance in 1971 where he was quite successful and continued to work well past his retirement. He received numerous qualifications in his field which allowed him to work with Central Hudson, NY State Electric, Con Edison, Texaco, the Towns of Poughkeepsie, Wappingers, Hyde Park and within Dutchess County. Glenn had a love for his business and he really enjoyed doing Air Condition and Refrigeration. He was a life member with 40 years at the
BPOE #275, the American Legion #1302, a life member of the Polish Club and a member of the Exempt Fireman Club. He was also a member of the Nazarene Church on Vassar Road and John 3:16 in LaGrangeville. Glenn was an avid boater and interested in Model Rail Roading.Glenn is survived by his daughter, Amanda Dalbo of Highland, NY, his companion of over 20 years, Maureen and his sister Elizabeth Reynolds of Oakhill, Fl, 3 grandchildren, Andrew, Daniel and Julie Arthur, 2 great grandchildren, Justin and Aryial Arthur as well as several nieces and nephews.Calling hours will be held on Monday, July 24, 2017 from 4:00pm to 8:00pm at the Timothy P. Doyle Funeral Home, Inc. 371 Hooker Avenue, Poughkeepsie, NY 12603. The Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, July 25, 2017 at 10:30am the Funeral Home with burial to follow at Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery, Poughkeepsie, NY.
