This obituary is administered by:

Glenden D. Lewis, beloved husband, father, and grandfather passed away on October 23, 2024 at the age of 86 at Grant Medical Center. Born on February 3, 1938, he was the son of the late George and Ruby (Simon) Lewis. 


He was a proud 1956 graduate of Zanesville High School where he was an avid athlete playing football and was a member of the 1955 Class A State championship basketball team. 


After graduating from high school, Glenn proudly served in the United States Navy, where he dedicated four years to serving his country. He won Outstanding Airman of the Year and consecutive good conduct medals. In 1959 and 1960, he was a member of Operation Deep Freeze in Antarctica. He was awarded a Navy Commendation Medal from the Secretary of the Navy for his part in the rescue mission.


Following his military service, Glenn pursued a career as an Electrical Engineer. He worked for Ohio Bell, Ameritech, and Lucent Technology, where he was known for his expertise, innovation, and dedication to his work. His contributions were vital to many successful projects, and he leaves behind a legacy of excellence and the utmost respect among his colleagues.


Outside of his professional life, Glenn was a devoted family man who enjoyed OSU football and daily workouts in the gym. He was known for his kind heart, sharp wit and unwavering support for his loved ones. 


He will be deeply missed and is survived by his wife, Edith (Reynolds) Lewis of Gahanna, son, Michael Lewis of Columbus; daughter, Kim (Lewis) Levanduski of Three Rivers, Michigan, son, Stephen (Misti) Lewis of Pickerington; grandchildren, Cody (Taylr) Lewis of Gahanna, Clayton, Maxine and Nicholas Levanduski of Three Rivers, Michigan; great grandchildren, Braxton, Brielle and Koda; nieces, Linda Eckhardt, Lori (Chuck) Watson; and nephews Tom (Renee) Kussmaul, Bob Kussmaul and Jeffrey Dunkle. In addition to his parents, Glenn was preceded in death by a brother, Melvin and sisters, Anna Kussmaul and Janis Dunkle.


A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson’s research.
