Gladys Lynette AntonelSan Luis ObispoGladys Lynette "Lyn" Antonel, 92, passed away peacefully on June 12, 2017 in San Luis Obispo, CA, with her son and daughter-in-law by her side. Lyn was born on April 28, 1925 ("most important day of the year") to Eugene Colin Campbell and Ruth Echo Diamond Campbell in Phoenix, Arizona. One of seven children and the daughter of a cattleman, she had what she described as a "perfect childhood." Summers were spent with her family in Ash Fork, AZ and at Mormon Lake, AZ with her beloved grandmother. These times were among her most treasured memories. Lyn graduated from Phoenix Union High School in 1943 and earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Education from the University of Arizona, Tucson. On June 30, 1946, Lyn married her "handsome Marine" Lloyd Paul Antonel. They began their married life in San Diego and raised their children in the San Fernando Valley. While raising her four active sons Lyn managed to earn her Bachelor of Arts degree in Education from San Fernando Valley State College (CSUN). Lyn was widowed at age 60 but stayed active with her family and friends. She traveled the world, played bridge, and was one of the founding members of the Saticoy Regional Women's Golf Club. When she could no longer play golf, Lyn continued to attend SRWGC events and was one of the "Wednesday Lunch Bunch." In 2013 she was awarded an Honorary Lifetime Membership. Lyn is survived by her sons Clayton Antonel, Carlsbad; Lloyd A. Antonel, Vista; Don Antonel (Karen), Atascadero; and Brett Antonel (Marcella), San Jose, along with four grandchildren: Jessica, Stacy, Bryce, and Rhiannon Antonel. She also leaves her brother, Colin Campbell of Williams, AZ, and her sister Nan Goeger, of Jarrell, TX and many nieces and nephews. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday July 8, 2017 at 2:00 p.m. at Charles Carroll Funeral Home, 15 Teloma Drive, Ventura, CA.
