GARRETT — Gerald Kleeman of Garrett passed away on Monday, Aug. 8, 2016, at Chandler Place in Kendallville. Gerald was born on Oct. 10, 1926, in Garrett to the late Paul F. and Ella R. (Groscop) Kleeman. Gerald was in the U.S. Army during WW ll as a paratrooper and military police officer. Gerald was a member of the American Legion Post 178 in Garrett. He was a mail carrier for the United States Postal Service for over 36 years, retiring in 1985. He will always be remembered for his patient, quiet demeanor and his love for children, animals and baseball. Survivors include his son, James E. Kleeman of London, Ohio; daughters, Geraldine A. Kleeman of Chicago and Lori L. Vieceli of Palatine, Illinois; his grandchildren, Kyle and Lauren Kleeman and Margo and Amanda Vieceli; and his brothers, Herbert P. Kleeman and Harold G. Kleeman, both of Garrett. He was preceded in death by his wife, Roselyn H. (Sherlock) Kleeman. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, with visitation one hour prior, at Zion Lutheran Church, 1349 S. Randolph St., Garrett. The Rev. Andrew Yeager will be officiating. Visitation will be held Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. at Pinnington Funeral & Cremation Services, 502 N. Main St., Auburn. Burial with military honors will be held in Woodlawn Cemetery, Auburn.
