George Strohm, Jr.July 23, 1925 - February 24, 2017LebanonGeorge Strohm, Jr., 91, passed away surrounded by his loving family on Friday, February 24, 2017 in the Community Living Center at the VA Hospital where he has resided for the last two years. He was born on July 23, 1925, in Lebanon to the late Ethel (Blouch) and George Strohm Sr. George was a 1943 graduate of Lebanon High School, where he played football, basketball and baseball. He served in the
United States Marine Corps in the South Pacific during World War II. In 1954, he started a plumbing and heating business, George Strohm, Jr. Inc. He loved playing golf, working out at the YMCA, watching the Phillies, volunteering at the Lebanon VA Medical Center, and spending time with his family, especially the grandchildren. He was previously active as a member of the Lebanon Ski Club, Jaycees, Optimist Club, Elks, American Legion, the Friendship Fire Company, the Navy Club, and the YMCA. He also served on the Board of Directors at the Northwest Savings Bank. George will be remembered as a great storyteller, loyal friend, loving brother, and devoted father and grandfather. He is survived by three children, Nancy J. Strohm (Chris Taylor), and Thomas Strohm (Lisa) Lebanon, and George R. Strohm, Jamaica; four grandchildren, Bobby Angelo (Lauren), and Lindsey Reynolds (Jay), Jackie Strohm, and Kristen Strohm; three great-grandchildren, Tyler and Kyla Angelo, and Jordan Reynolds. Also surviving are sisters, Ellen Mary Ondrejicka, Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Patricia Gruber, Titusville, FL; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Strohm, and sister, Faye Feeman. Military Honors will take place at the National Cemetery at Fort Indiantown Gap on March 6. A funeral procession will leave Rohland Funeral Home, 508 Cumberland St., Lebanon at 9:30 a.m. Later that day, George's life will be celebrated by family and friends at St. Marks UCC, 8th and Mifflin Streets, Lebanon at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in his memory to the Lebanon Valley Family YMCA or the Lebanon Community Library.
