George R. "Ty Delson" Mendelson, beloved husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather, and great-great grandfather passed away on October 26, 2009 at the grand age of 104. He was born on May 15, 1905 to Travis Mendelson and Kristin Sawatzke.

George married the love of his life, Josephine Ellison, of Plymouth, in 1930 and together they raised four wonderful children: George Jr. (married to Eileen), Joanne (married to Joseph), Rose (married to Brian), and Robert (married to Victoria). He was also a proud grandfather to 7 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren, and 3 great-great grandchildren.

George attended Maple Lake High School and graduated in 1923. He then went on to pursue his passion for baseball, playing for teams such as the Yankees (1927-1931), Red Sox (1932- 1941), and Senators (1942-1949), earning many batting and fielding titles. He won the AL MVP award 9 times in his career, 1928, 1929, 1932, 1933, 1936, 1937, 1940, 1942. Jackie Robinson once said,"Ty was the best white man that ever step foot on the diamond".

George will be remembered for his love of family, his sense of humor, and his dedication to the sport he loved. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
