George GarciaOctober 31, 2017George Garcia, 89, of Cape Coral, FL passed away on October 31, 2017. George was born on January 21, 1928 in Manhattan, NY. He was the son of Martha and Jose Garcia. He served his country in U. S. Navy. George was a police detective for the City of NY and served as Community Relations Officer for the famed 41st precinct also known as Fort Apache. After retiring from NYPD, he became a resident of Cape Coral in 1973. He was an Occupational Specialist for Lee County Public Schools for many years. He was an avid racket ball player. George loved to dance salsa. He was a founding member of the Hispanic Society of NYPD. George is survived by his loving wife, Olga, of 63 years, his loving daughter, Georgieanne Garcia Crews and his loving sons, Thomas Garcia-Mones/Ann and Steven Mones/Kathleen, 5 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren, his brother Alfred Garcia and numerous nieces and nephews. Viewing will be held at Fuller Metz Cremation and Funeral Services, 3740 Del Prado Blvd., Cape Coral, FL on Sunday 11/5 between 2 & 6 PM and Monday, 11/6 between 6 & 8 PM. Mass will be at 11 AM Tuesday 11/7 at St. Andrew Catholic Church, 2628 Del Prado Blvd. S., Cape Coral, FL with military honors to follow in front of the church.
