Schmiedel, GeneGene M. Schmiedel, age 83, passed away on September 12, 2017, at Bethel home surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 24, 1934 to Harold and Linda (Radig) Schmiedel in Oshkosh. He married his wife of 63 years, Shirley Berrell on May 1, 1954.Gene went to Oshkosh High School and went on to be Co-owner of Jackson Glass Company.He was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church for over 40 years, an Elks Lodge 292 for 23 years and had coffee at Hardees on Jackson with "The Crew" for many years as well. Gene enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time at the land. He was also an avid Packer fan.Gene is survived by his loving wife, Shirley; daughter, Roxanne Schmiedel; sons, Rick (Barb) and Scott (Janie) Schmiedel; grandchildren, Amanda, Allison, Kaitlin and twins Mia and Maxwell; sister, Alice Meitzen; brother, Gerald "Gary" Schmiedel; and several nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Patricia (Dale) King; brothers, Ronald (Arlene), Karl, Kenneth and Harold Jr. "Jim" Schmiedel; and brother in law, Earl Meitzen.A funeral service will be held for Gene at 6:30 p.m. on Monday, September 18, 2017, at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home-(Westside) with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating. An Elks honors service will be held at 6:15 p.m. before the mass starts. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the services. Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at Sacred Heart Cemetery.In lieu of flowers a memorial is being established.The family would like to extend a sincere thank you to Dr. Matt Kraemer, Dr. Greg Reiser, Affinity Hospice and to all the Bethel Home staff on 1 West for all the love and care they gave to Gene.
