YORK Gene M. (Allison) Gaeckler, 97, of Pleasant Acres Nursing Center, formerly of Glen Rock, died Monday, September 15, 2014, at the home. She was the wife of the late Paul F. Gaeckler. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Tuesday, September 23, 2014, at Zion Lutheran Church, 47 Hanover St., Glen Rock, with her pastor, the Rev. Ed Robbins, officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. A viewing will be held from 1 to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church. The Geiple Funeral Home, Inc., 53 Main St., Glen Rock, is in charge of the arrangements. Mrs. Gaeckler was born on March 17, 1917, in Glen Rock, a daughter of the late Bertrum D. and Gertrude (Neuhause) Allison, and stepdaughter of the late Bessie (Price) Allison. She gradated in 1933 from Glen Rock High School and received her Teaching Certificate from Shippensburg College. She had been employed part-time with the Southern York County School District, teaching Special Education at both New Freedom Elementary and Friendship Elementary Schools in the District. Gene was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Glen Rock. She is survived by a daughter, Cindy L. Rose of Dallastown; a son, D. Roger Gaeckler of Oyster Bay, N.Y.; 11 grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Nancy G. Warner; three sons, Reed D. Gaeckler, Charles B. Gaeckler, and Paul Fred Gaeckler; a brother, D. Reed Allison; and a grandson, Ricky Gaeckler.
